EPA Announces School Bus Replacement and Retrofit Funding Opportunity 

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has announced the opening of the 2015 School Bus Replacement and Retrofit Funding Opportunity. This rebate program replaces and retrofits older school buses in both the public and private sector. The total funding for this opportunity is approximately $7 million. 

Each application may request to replace up to ten buses and/or retrofit up to ten buses. EPA will pay between $15,000 and $25,000 for each bus replaced, depending upon vehicle size, and up to $3,000 per retrofitted bus. Eligible retrofits include the Diesel Oxidation Catalyst plus Closed Crankcase Ventilation system. Fleets with 101 or more buses may submit two applications. Eligible buses must be powered by a model year 2006 or older engine.
